This modest master bedroom addition is located in the town of Greenbank on Whidbey Island. The new master bedroom wing looks to the west over a spectacular view of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains beyond. The desire from the beginning was to maintain the open, casual, plan of the existing home and to take full advantage  of the views to the west. Large sliding doors that fully open to the existing and new decks help to blur the line between indoor and outdoor spaces giving the illusion of much larger interior spaces.  

The interior material palette is simple and 'organic' with a minimal use of paint and processed materials. The exterior is skinned in a rain-screen of thermally modified wood that requires no chemical treatment and will age and 'silver' very similar to teak.
